Human Resources Director

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Human Resources Director will contribute to Ballet & Books by overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts of our volunteer staff. This role supports the Human Resources Manager and reports directly to the Program Director. Additionally, the director will collaborate with other National Team members to help improve processes, communicate important updates, and schedule/run important training.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts of volunteer staff 

  • This includes developing/editing job descriptions, posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and overseeing the onboarding process 

  • Maintain relationships with universities, community partners, and other stakeholders to ensure all safety and legal requirements are met each semester 

  • Oversee background check process for our volunteers that work directly with youth 

  • Support the HR Manager and hold them accountable for their tasks and responsibilities 

  • Maintain Google accounts and provide the appropriate accesses to the Drive and Gmail

  • Oversee semesterly trainings and new member orientations 

  • Attend bi-weekly National Team meetings, bi-weekly meetings with Program Director, regular meetings with HR Manager, and one-on-ones with other National Team members as needed

  • Communicate with all team members promptly and appropriately, checking texts and emails at least once a day

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • This is an unpaid, remote Volunteer position.

Operations Fellow

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ballet & Books is seeking a Volunteer Operations Fellow to help update and revitalize our website as well as assist in data management tasks essential to the success of Ballet and Books. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this role will be responsible for managing the organization's website and making critical updates as well as assisting in data management. This is an exciting opportunity that comes at a unique pivot point for the organization. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leadership and commitment to our mission and to moving youth forward. Seeking an individual excited to dedicate volunteer hours toward supporting youth and building a dance and literacy movement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Attend weekly check-ins with National Operations Director 

  • Meet with other members of the National Team as needed and communicate relevant updates in a timely manner

  • Conduct a website audit to analyze where our website could structurally be improved and implementing these changes under the guidance of the Operations Director

  • Implement crucial updates to the Ballet & Books website to reflect current information

  • Monitor and develop innovative strategies to improve the Ballet & Books website

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of critical data sets

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • This is an unpaid, remote Volunteer position.

  • Time Commitment: ~5 hours/week from June-August with potential to extend into the fall. 

  • Position title and time commitment can be negotiated to fit internship requirements upon request.

Chapter Coordinator

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ballet & Books is seeking 1-2 Volunteer Chapter Coordinators to help guide the development and growth of our organization, improving our existing chapters and growing the number of participants in our programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Chapters, this role will be responsible for managing a diverse team of  current college student leaders to execute Ballet & Books programming. Each coordinator will oversee approximately 3 current Ballet and Books chapters. This is an exciting opportunity that comes at a unique pivot point for the organization. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leadership and commitment to our mission and to moving youth forward. Seeking an individual excited to dedicate volunteer hours toward supporting youth and building a dance and literacy movement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Oversees 3-4 current Ballet and Books chapters in operation

  • Meets weekly with chapter leadership to mentor and support chapter leaders 

  • Updates and maintains Google Drive folders for chapters

  • Oversees chapter background check process and ensures each chapter member is appropriately background checked in accordance with insurance,university, and community partner standards 

  • Meets weekly with Director of Chapters and communicates chapters challenges and wins regularly

  • Oversees Youth Participant Forms, Mentor and Chapter Member paperwork, and other chapter level documentation that ensures organization success and security  

  • Helps chapters meet fundraising and marketing goals, and communicates accordingly with National Team leaders

  • Helps chapter leaders attain and maintain club status at their university and stay connected with appropriate university affiliates 

  • Communicates with National Team leaders as needed for chapter needs/updates, including regularly updating important forms that enable efficient communication at the National level

  • This includes daily email and text correspondence

  • Supports chapter growth and development

Education Director

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Education will contribute to Ballet & Books by overseeing the training of student leadership—one of the most crucial aspects of our program– and preparing both the SEEDS and SPROUTS curriculum to be used by mentors of our collegiate chapters. Additionally, the director will collaborate with other National Team members, and the Education Fellow to conduct evaluations using qualitative and/or quantitative tools to monitor the program’s efficacy and to tell a story about our impact. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Organize and facilitate semesterly New Mentor Training

  • Communicate with chapter leadership, national team leadership, facilitators, and other relevant stakeholders

  • Design training modules relevant to student leader or mentor training (culturally responsive practice, Science of Reading skills, classroom management, etc.)

  • Oversee curriculum updates and expansion - collaborate with Education Fellow to create new activities and adjust older ones

  • Create and monitor mentor reflection forms to surface the highs and lows of programming and curriculum

  • Partner with Research team to implement pre and post assessments for children, mentors, and parents

  • Seek out new, diverse dance children’s books

  • Attend bi-weekly National Team meetings, bi-weekly meetings with Education Fellow, and other one-on-ones with other National Team members as needed

Social Media Fellow

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ballet & Books is seeking a Volunteer Media Fellow to help market the organization through the creative and professional use of social media. Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, this role will be responsible for creating content that aligns with and promotes our brand. This is an exciting opportunity that comes at a unique pivot point for the organization. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leadership and commitment to our mission and to moving youth forward. Seeking an individual excited to dedicate volunteer hours toward supporting youth and building a dance and literacy movement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assist in management of social accounts under Marketing Director's supervision in partnership with other media fellow

  • Plan each month's content in advance and share plan with Marketing Director and team for commentary on revision 

  • Collaborate with other social media fellow(s)

  • Brainstorm and implement innovative social media outreach strategies, open to your creative ideas and drive

  • Design content using our photos and tools (Canva, Unfold, etc.)

  • Keep up with posting and responding to comments

  • Alerting Marketing Director of important messages (CC Program Director)

  • Attend weekly check-ins with Marketing Director and meet with other members of the National Team as needed 

  • Communicate with chapter Marketing Chairs as needed to acquire photos and updates that can be used to generate content
